The extraordinary gathering, scheduled for March 8, aims to draw attention from both national and international communities to the pressing issues of climate change in the Sagarmatha region and the challenges faced by its resilient mountain population.

As a symbol of unity and resilience, women from diverse backgrounds and professions will embark on a symbolic march to Kalapaththar, symbolizing their commitment to combating climate change and promoting women's empowerment.

During the march, an interactive session will be held with people's representatives and local communities, shedding light on the far-reaching impacts of climate change. Prajeeta Karki, the president of Sath Sathai, emphasized the organization's long-standing tradition of observing International Women's Day at Kalapaththar for the past three years, under the theme of "Women United for Climate Change."

The gathering serves as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges faced by mountain communities due to melting snow and to explore potential solutions. A group of 25 women from various sectors will commence their journey from Kathmandu on February 29, traveling to Lukla before engaging in meaningful interactions with local representatives and communities at Syangboche on March 2.

Finally, on March 8, they will reach the majestic destination of Kalapaththar, where their presence will captivate the attention of the national and international communities, shedding light on the adverse impacts of climate change on the local community, agriculture, and tourism.

This year's International Women's Day holds the theme of "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress," emphasizing the pivotal role women play in driving positive change and sustainable development.

By choosing Kalapaththar as the symbolic destination for this event, Sath Sathai aims to showcase the awe-inspiring beauty of the Sagarmatha region while highlighting the urgent need to protect its fragile ecosystem through sustainable tourism practices.

As the world recognizes the importance of gender equality and environmental conservation, Sath Sathai's pioneering initiative at Kalapaththar serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration.

This unique convergence of women's empowerment, climate change advocacy, and tourism not only showcases Nepal's natural wonders but also calls upon individuals, communities, and governments to take collective action to preserve our planet for future generations.
